About
I am a Principal Researcher in the Cloud Systems Futures group at Microsoft Research Lab in Cambridge. My research interests lie in computer and storage systems, with a recent focus on robotics. Currently, I am investigating how automation and robotics can elevate Microsoft’s datacenter operations by enhancing availability, reliability and sustainability. For that, we created a multi-disciplinary team called CRAFT, which is dedicated to developing robotics solutions for datacenters with the aim of enabling self-maintaining datacenters.
Previously, I worked on Project Silica, a long-term archival storage system based on quartz glass. In this project, we challenged traditional storage system designs and created a novel system from the media up, co-designing the media, hardware interfaces, library and software stack.
I hold a PhD and MSc from the University of Ioannina in Greece, where my research focused on improving data durability, resource efficiency, and system performance in local and distributed filesystems.
