I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Graduate Minor in Cognitive Science at North Carolina State University where I was advised by Chris Parnin (opens in new tab). My dissertation identified the cognitive and social barriers to participating in online socio-technical ecosystems. Specifically, I outlined a framework of how to use “Identity-Based Signals and E-Mentorship to Support Engagement in Online Programming Communities.”
My current research focuses on how to build empathetic mechanisms for software engineers to collaborate globally through an extended cultural lens.
