I manage applied science teams in MSAI organization (Microsoft Search, Assistant and Intelligence). Our applied science teams partner with MSR and focus on NLP, DNN/ML and IR features in Outlook, Teams, Word, SharePoint, Windows, and others. We work on information summarization, triage, search, creation (i.e. writing) and collaboration features in MS products reaching 100’s of millions of users at global scale. Other areas of interest include personalization, contextualization, internationalization, and privacy preserving models.
Before MSAI, I managed combined engineering and science teams focused on Whole Page Ranking and Contextual Information Retrieval in Bing. I have a Ph.D. in Information Retrieval specialized in multimedia retrieval and B.Sc. in Computer Science from Dublin City University. My first job in MS, was on a fairly small team, at that time, building the Image and Video search engines in Bing.
