Usman Munir is a Senior Technical Program Manager in Microsoft Research’s AI for Science team, where he oversees a portfolio of drug discovery initiatives. Drawing on extensive experience in AI, product management, data strategy, and health economics, Usman bridges cutting-edge research and strategy to advance application of AI breakthroughs in health and life sciences. Prior to AI for Science, he led the development of new AI products in mental health, hospital care, and medical imaging within Microsoft’s Health Futures group, establishing partnerships with leading healthcare and biopharma organizations.
Usman holds a doctorate in health economics from Harvard University and a Master’s in Epidemiology from Imperial College London. Before joining Microsoft, he completed a AI Postdoctoral Fellowship at MIT CSAIL ( Katabi Lab), where he pioneered digital biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases and remote patient monitoring using state-of-the-art AI-based IoT systems.
