I’ve been applying machine learning for almost 20 years (when I started the term “artificial intelligence” was toxic). I’ve worked on computational advertising, social networking, recommendation, cybersecurity, and dialog. My publications typically arise from problems encountered during practice. I’m currently applying reinforcement learning, with associated research interests such as off-policy estimation and efficient exploration.
