About

Sadid Hasan is a member of the leadership team in Microsoft’s AI Development Acceleration Program (MAIDAP (opens in new tab)) at the Microsoft New England Research & Development (NERD AI (opens in new tab)) center, where he leads the teams to drive the state-of-the-art in AI by developing advanced AI capabilities, products, and solutions applicable across the enterprise, as well as growing the next generation of AI leaders who can make a transformational impact to the world.

Before joining MAIDAP, Sadid was the Executive Director of AI at CVS Health (opens in new tab), where he led the teams responsible for AI-based clinical care planning initiatives. Prior to that, he was a Senior Scientist and Technical Lead of the AI Group (opens in new tab) at Philips Research North America (opens in new tab), where he focused on solving various Natural Language Processing (NLP) problems such as Clinical Information Extraction (opens in new tab)Clinical Question Answering (opens in new tab)Natural Language Inference (opens in new tab)Paraphrase Generation (opens in new tab), and Medical Image Caption Generation (opens in new tab) using Deep Learning.

Before joining Philips, Sadid was an NSERC-Engage (opens in new tab) Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (opens in new tab)University of Lethbridge (opens in new tab), Canada, from where he obtained his PhD. in Computer Science with a specialization in NLP and Machine Learning. His PhD. dissertation, entitled “Complex Question Answering: Minimizing the Gaps and Beyond” (opens in new tab), was nominated for the 2014 CAGS/UMI Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award (opens in new tab). Sadid has over 12 granted patents along with 35+ patents pending, and 80+ peer-reviewed publications in top-tier NLP/Machine Learning venues, where he also regularly serves in the program committees, including ACL, EMNLP, COLING, NeurIPS, ICML, IJCAI, AAAI, ICLR, NAACL, EACL, JAIR, AI Journal, Nature etc.
