Principal Researcher

About

I am a researcher in the Knowledge Technologies and Intelligent Experiences Group at Microsoft Research. My interests lie at the intersection of Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. I attempt to model meaning in human language and to imbue computers with the ability to learn from, understand and manipulate massive amounts of natural language data. At Microsoft Research my work is primarily focused on leveraging artifacts of human communication in order to build intelligent experience in Microsoft products that delight users and help them to be more productive.

I graduated with a PhD in 2017 from the Language Technologies Institute in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. My advisor was Professor Eduard Hovy. Before pursuing a PhD, I was an Erasmus Mundus Masters scholar between 2010 and 2012. During the course of my graduate studies I have interned at Microsoft Research (India), Google and the Allen Institute for AI.
