Sitaram is a Vice President in Bing Engineering group in Experiences and Devices division at Microsoft. Sitaram’s team works on a range of components in Bing platform such as fresh index tier, ranking service to compute a relevance score given a query and a document, a Platform as a Service hosting large scale online applications, and project Catapult/Brainwave to develop hardware accelerators for deep learning inference. Sitaram’s team also works on enterprise search across entity types (emails, calendar items, OneDrive docs, SharePoint lists and documents, … ) for Microsoft365 product suite.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Sitaram worked at Amazon and at Tandem Computers Inc. on areas such as payment system, scalable middle tier for on-line systems and transaction processing. And prior to that was an Assistant Professor in Computer Science department at Penn State University.

Sitaram received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Pennsylvania.
