About

I am a Senior Scientist in Bioinformatics at Microsoft, where I collaborate with academia and industry to develop and optimize bioinformatics solutions on Azure. My work focuses on improving cloud-based workflows, adopting open-source standards, and advancing computational methods for genomics and bioinformatics.

As a core member of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) (opens in new tab), I contribute to defining standards like the Task Execution Service (TES) and OpenWDL, enabling interoperability and scalability in bioinformatics tools. Additionally, I lead efforts in developing genomics foundation models, integrating gene regulatory networks, and driving innovation in computational biology.

Previously, I served as Faculty Associate and Director of the Bioinformatics Core Facility at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where I co-led data analytics efforts for major research programs such as the Kidney Cancer SPORE and the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. My work resulted in the development of platforms like the Kidney Cancer Explorer (KCE) and Cognition Explorer (CE) for clinical and genomic data integration.

My academic background includes a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s in Biotechnology from UC Davis.
