About
Vaishnavi Ranganathan is a Principal Researcher in the Networking Research Group at Microsoft Research (MSR). Vaishnavi currently leads the research on wireless sensing systems and traceability in global supply chains. Her research broadly encompasses critical applications in sustainability, health, and environment. She graduated with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington.
Vaishnavi has experience working on a diverse set of topics including supply chain, wireless power transfer, Backscatter and battery-free systems, NEMS, wearable and implantable devices and low power sensing for healthcare, environment and sustainability. At Microsoft Research she also worked on Project FoodVibes [supply chain traceability and sensing], project FarmVibes [satellite-based remote sensing for agriculture and deforestation – EUDR compliance], and project Eclipse [a research effort to measure hyperlocal air quality in urban areas and identify its public health impacts]. Vaishnavi loves working on inter-disciplinary projects, while sensing for health and sustainability are her main drivers. For more recent updates, please visit vnattar.github.io (opens in new tab).
