Responsible innovation at the frontiers of science
To mark the 30th anniversary of Microsoft Research, Eric Horvitz, Chief Scientific Officer, hosts a series of panel discussions on the “Generations of Inspirational and Impactful Research”. The panelists, comprised of current and past Microsoft Research Scientists and Engineers from around the world, share their reflections and perspectives on topics that are important for the vibrancy creativity and impact of research efforts.
This panel explores the topic of responsible innovation at the frontiers of science. Over the past 30-year lifespan of Microsoft research, computing technologies have become absolutely foundational in our society and in our daily lives and with great power comes great responsibility. Responsible innovation includes thinking deeply about how we can best aim computing technologies at critical challenges we face as society.
