Microsoft Ignite 2024 wrap up: Highlights and resources

Microsoft Ignite wrapped right before the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, bringing together customers, developers, and partners in Chicago to discuss new approaches to work and AI adoption. Microsoft Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Satya Nadella’s keynote alone announced about 80 new ways in which AI and Copilot can help startups securely implement and build AI-powered solutions to deliver value to their customers.

With the use of generative AI on the rise—and nearly 70% of Fortune 500 companies now using Microsoft 365 Copilot—it’s clear that AI is transforming industries at every level. Leveraging AI responsibly, committing to security, and keeping pace with the constantly changing technological landscape is a balance that everyone working with AI is facing every day. One thing we’re seeing from our customers is the partnership between enterprise companies and startups to further accelerate AI adoption while being responsible and secure.

I had the honor of joining a podcast and presenting alongside colleagues, founders and customers about this topic—this formula of bringing together the resources and scale of big tech with the innovation and agility of startups to help customers achieve more and innovate faster—with safeguards baked in.

We saw this in action from Unilever, who partnered with Holistic AI, a Microsoft for Startups Pegasus startup, to leverage their AI governance solution and monitor AI compliance across ever-changing regulations and standards. AI governance and assurance have enabled Unilever to mitigate risk, optimize operations, and transform customer enablement, delivering value quickly and at scale. This was one of many examples of how startups are uniquely positioned to help enterprises in this era of AI.

As I reflect on the excitement and momentum generated from Microsoft Ignite, I want to thank everyone who worked tirelessly to bring so many sessions and experiences to life, as well as all of the attendees who joined to have meaningful discussions, share feedback, and learn from each other. For those who may have missed it, I’m sharing some key resources for continued learning and connection below, including some created and delivered by our team of Developer Advocates. I am excited to see the startup ecosystem continue to move the needle with innovation and AI adoption, and I cannot wait to discover what this next year brings.
